LUAG Family Workshop: What's your story? Inspired by the life and work of Gloria Naylor

November 20, 2021 1:00PM to 4:00PM
LUAG Main Gallery

What is your story? We all have a story, or many stories, that shape us throughout our lives. Is it an event from childhood that you’ll never forget? Or a special relationship or bond that you cherish? In this family workshop, we will learn about author Gloria Naylor and discuss the concept of personal stories. Participants will have an opportunity to build their own sculptural accordion book and fill it with their own personal stories. Hands-on activity will take approximately 30-45 minutes.

Register in advance.

Kimberly Tanzos is a 2009 graduate of Kutztown University, where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Art Education with a minor in Crafts.  During her time at Kutztown, she concentrated her studio studies around the fiber arts, including both weaving and non-loom techniques.  After graduation, Kimberly began a career as an art teacher and later became an educator at the Allentown Art Museum.  Within the museum, she found herself very interested in exhibition work and eventually moved into the curatorial department working as a collections assistant and preparator.

In April 2013, Kimberly was accepted as a resident artist at the Banana Factory in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  Being a resident artist has allowed her to focus on her artwork and get more involved in the artist community in the Lehigh Valley.  She plans to continue creating and experiencing all she can in the area of fiber arts, while teaching classes in various types of felt making within the community.

LUAG Family Workshops offer opportunities to explore great works of art from the LUAG collection and current exhibitions through conversation, hands-on projects, and sketching. Geared to children ages 4 to 12 and their adult companions, however, all ages are welcome.
