What Matters Most: Opening Reception & Community Celebration

Join us on October 7, 2022 for the Opening Reception and community celebration for What Matters Most on the South Bethlehem Greenway. 

In partnership with the SouthSide Art District’s First Friday celebration and CADCB's Greenway Farmers Market, join us on the South Bethlehem Greenway for a special celebration and reception for the community curated exhibition What Matters Most. Over the past year, over 100 Lehigh students, faculty, and staff, as well as community members in Bethlehem were asked what matters most to them.  A broad range of topics were discussed, from protecting our environment to fighting racism to our individual and collective well-being. The contributors were asked to discuss these issues, and then to select works of art from Lehigh’s collection that help us think more deeply about them. Rather than being illustrations of specific issues, or even the central topic of concern to the artist, these selections are meant to expand, explore, and connect our ideas about what matters most.

In addition to the exhibition of original artworks on display across five campus galleries, view reproductions of key works along the South Bethlehem Greenway, listen to the audio guide, meet community members and representatives and participate in hands-on activities. The first 100 individuals will be eligible to win free LUAG Swag.

Drop by anytime between 5:30-6:30 pm and stop by the check-in table near Polk Street and the Greenway (between 3rd & 4th Streets) to check in and grab your tote bag.

A ribbon cutting will take place at 5:45 pm.

This is a qualifying 5X10 event.

The 5x10, which reads as five by ten, is a programming series open to all Lehigh students with a specific focus on first-year students, their connection to Lehigh and introducing them to bLUeprint and the Five Foundations of Student Success. In a typical year, first-year students are expected to attend five programs during the first ten weeks of the semester.
