Teaching Artist/Museum Educators:

Lehigh University Art Galleries (LUAG) seeks energetic and creative teaching artists and museum educators (who work in a variety of media) to enable us to strengthen and enhance the education programs we offer to adults, children, and community partnerships.

A successful candidate must be personable, supportive of students, knowledgeable of general art history and have the flexibility to provide engaging programs for students with a range of knowledge and skill levels. Experience teaching on a virtual platform is a plus, but not required.

Educators are hired as independent contractors. Dates and times vary. 

 


Intern with Lehigh University Art Galleries in Summer 2024!

Students and recent graduates are invited to apply for an eight-week summer internship program with Lehigh University Art Galleries. Summer Internship dates vary by position. Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate with LUAG staff and other summer interns while working in a community-focused art museum in the Lehigh Valley! The deadline to apply is April 26, 2024.
 

Museum Education and Outreach Internship

The Museum Education Intern works with the LUAG staff to plan, design, and implement education and interpretation programs for the campus and community. Interns will have the opportunity to interact with diverse audiences, assist with exhibition-related/curriculum-based art projects for various age groups, collaborate with visiting artists, and more. Students assist with administrative tasks, research art and arts programming, help staff implement various programs, and create content for virtual programs. Depending on a student’s interests, they may also research and prepare a gallery talk or other public program. Interns should be friendly, energetic, highly motivated, and creative; and have a positive, enthusiastic attitude towards interacting with learners of all ages.

Museum Accessibility Internship

The Museum Accessibility Intern works with the LUAG staff to support accessibility and inclusion initiatives at the museum. The intern will be trained in visual art audio description and be expected to develop audio descriptions for a selection of works from the permanent collection during the internship. The intern will also work to develop access documents and outreach materials for the museum, assist with disability-focused programming, update virtual tours and pre-visit museum content on the LUAG website, and create tactile kits for select works of art in the museum’s collection.

Marketing and Social Media Management Internship

The Marketing and Social Media Management intern works with LUAG staff to plan, create, and post content for the organization’s social media channels. Interns will be able to research works in the collection, assist in content creation, design graphics and print materials, and report on audience and data analytics for LUAG’s social media channels. The intern should be able to work collaboratively with staff members and other interns, have some experience in graphic design (CANVA preferred), and adhere to strict deadlines as it aligns with our marketing and communications calendar.

Visitor Services Representative

The Lehigh University Art Galleries is looking for a hardworking and responsible Federal Work Study student to join their team. The purpose of this role is to assist the Galleries by offering exceptional customer service to guests as well as completing administrative and other tasks as assigned. Candidates do not need to possess extensive background knowledge in art but a love of art is a plus.

Hours: 3-10 per week, flexibility to attend evening events and/or work some weekends

Location: LUAG Main Galleries (inside Zoellner Arts Center)

Level 2 Position ($10.00/hr)

Data Management & Standardization Assistant

The Lehigh University Art Galleries is looking for a hardworking and responsible Federal Work Study student to join their team. The purpose of this role is to support and assist the Collections and Exhibitions team through database management and preparation for future projects. Duties may also include the handling, assessment, and rehousing of collections. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and similar database programs is essential.

Hours: 4-10 hours per week

Museum Collections & Digitization Assistant

The Lehigh University Art Galleries is looking for a hardworking and responsible Federal Work Study student to join their team. The purpose of this role is to support the LUAG Collections and Exhibitions staff to document, care for, and showcase artwork in the museum’s permanent collections. Students will collaborate with staff to assist with and complete physical or digital projects related to diverse artworks and ongoing department needs. Depending on a student’s interests, they may also collaborate with other student workers to create related social media content or other relevant outreach.

Hours: 10 hours per week

Location: LUAG Collections & Exhibitions Offices, Building J (Mountaintop Campus)

Level 3 Position ($11.00/hr)
