Connect & Create: Archiving Dreams and Memories with Rei Ukon

April 21, 2026 5:30PM to 7:00PM
LUAG Main Gallery

Join Here and Now exhibition artist Rei Ukon ’21 for a hands-on community workshop exploring how dreams and memories can be preserved through art. Using collage materials, paint, thread, fabric, and personal images, participants will create a small multimedia artwork that reflects and honors their own experiences.

Open to all ages and abilities, this workshop offers a welcoming space for reflection, creativity, and connection. No prior art experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to explore memory through making.

Note to participants: Please have one to three images of special memories, people, or places you would like to use within your artwork. Images may be pre-printed or they can be printed at the workshop.

Register in advance. Space is limited.

If you require assistance filling out this form, prefer to share your registration information via email or phone, or have questions, concerns, or any accessibility needs, please email Elise at ejs421@lehigh.edu or call 610-758-6882.

Rei Ukon is an artist, educator, and curator. They use handmade paper, textiles, glass beads, painting, and collage to explore memory and the human experience. Their work evoke nostalgic feelings that linger in the dawning moments between dream and reality. Interwoven within Ukon’s work are the connections drawn between past, present, and dream experiences and it is in their overlapping echoes where their deepest emotions reverberate the most. As a community teaching artist, Ukon facilitates spaces to create, explore, and learn through art-making. They have a passion for the role of art in building stronger communities and can be found teaching in schools, community centers, libraries, and museums. Currently, they are the Manager of Arts Engagement at the Allentown Art Museum. They hold a Bachelors of Science in Business and Economics from Lehigh University with minors in Art History and Fashion Design.

Connect & Create workshops offer a brief exploration and creative conversation around a work of art from the LUAG collection, followed by a hands-on activity and/or creative response led by a local teaching artist or student educator.
