Lehigh University consistently ranks as one of the top engineering and business schools in the nation. Car czar Lee Iacocca, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert, and Peeps father Bob Born are among its distinguished alumni.
And yet, as long as the school in south Bethlehem has been training future titans of industry how to lead multi-million-dollar corporations, the creative arts have been considered an essential part of the curriculum.
“From what we gather, it really began right from the founding of the university,” said William Crow, the director of Lehigh University Art Galleries (LUAG).
Now, art, architecture and design is one of the fastest growing departments at Lehigh, according to Crow.
As Lehigh counts down to an important milestone, the school's creative side will be in the spotlight beginning next year, along with dozens of local artists who can help craft the next chapter of the school's personal art history.
