Access Culture: Intro to Audio Description in Arts Organizations

April 7, 2025 1:00PM to 3:30PM
LUAG Lower Gallery

Discover the art of audio description (AD) and how it can make arts organizations (museums, theaters, etc.) more inclusive! In this two-hour workshop, we’ll introduce the basics of crafting vivid, engaging descriptions for artworks and explore how audio description is used in the museum setting. You’ll learn through examples of both effective and ineffective descriptions, discuss the creation process and its implementation, and see how LUAG Education & Accessibility Students and Staff incorporate community feedback into our audio description efforts.

Participants will leave with online resources, examples of audio descriptions, and a clear understanding of how to implement audio descriptions in their education practices to enhance accessibility for all audiences.

This workshop is part of the Access Culture (AD) series, which includes sessions on audio description and tactile materials. While attending all three workshops is encouraged, each can stand alone. Find links to the other events in this series on our events page and join us for one—or all!
