Access Culture: Developing Tactile Education Materials for Museum & Gallery Tours (Session 2)

February 20, 2025 5:00PM to 7:00PM
Allentown Art Museum, Rodale Classroom

**Please note: This session will be hosted at the Allentown Art Museum at 31 North 5th Street, Allentown, PA 18101

What are tactiles? How can tactiles create new opportunities for learning and engagement for all audiences?

Join us for an interactive, hands-on workshop at the Allentown Art Museum! Building on Part 1 of the Access Culture series, which focused on audio description in museums, this session delves into the role of tactile materials in museum and gallery settings.

Explore the museum’s education space, tactile collection, and artworks during a guided tour. Then, unleash your creativity by designing your own tactile materials—whether inspired by existing ideas or something entirely new!

Participants will leave with online resources, a clear understanding of what tactiles are, how to create effective tactiles and ways to implement them in your own educational practices, and a small tactile sample created during the workshop!

This workshop is part of the Access Culture (AD) series, which includes sessions on audio description and tactile materials. While attending all three workshops is encouraged, each can stand alone. Find links to the other events in this series below and join us for one—or all!
