About the Teaching Artist:
Emma Ryan is a papermaker and mixed-media artist who works as an art educator. Originally from Northern Virginia, she relocated to Allentown, Pennsylvania, to study at Cedar Crest College, where she earned dual degrees in Social Work and Studio Art with an integration in Psychology. She later completed a Master’s in Art Education from Kutztown University. During her undergraduate studies, Emma served as an instructor’s assistant in the papermaking studio and, after graduation, continued in a similar role through a postgraduate internship. Today, she teaches art at a youth residential facility, where she shares her passion for creativity and self-expression with young people. Emma’s artistic practice centers on papermaking, collage, and book arts. Through these mediums, she explores the connections humans share with one another, our emotions, and our communities.
LUAG Community Days offer opportunities to drop-in to the galleries to explore great works of art from the LUAG collection and current exhibitions through conversation, hands-on projects, and sketching. Geared to children ages 4 to 94 and their adult companions.
