Together, Here & Now: A Workshop for Incorporating Mindful Practices in Group Settings

Led by artist and educator Khalid Taylor, this professional learning workshop is designed for educators and teaching artists seeking meaningful ways to begin or reset classes and programs with clarity, care, and intention. Participants will be introduced to a flexible toolbox of mindfulness- and presence-based activities that support focus, emotional awareness, and community-building in classrooms and alternative learning environments. Through guided practices, discussion, and fun hands-on exercises, Khalid will share accessible strategies for intention setting, grounding, and embodiment that can be adapted for a wide range of age groups and learning contexts. These activities are designed to be easily integrated at the start of a class or program, helping learners arrive fully present and prepared to engage. Participants will leave with practical tools, prompts, and frameworks they can immediately apply to support a positive and purposeful learning mindset.
Participants can expect to experience a variety of activities (some seated, some standing, and/or some with upper & lower body movements) that promote awareness of self and others. Discussions will explore and emphasize adaptability for different group needs/contexts. Participants can also expect hands-on practice leading some of the exercises with the full group. Notetaking, questions, and active participation are encouraged!
Registration is limited. Please register in advance.
