Artist Series #2: Crafting Your Artist Statement with Katie Arnold

Writing about your own artwork can be challenging. Join local artist and educator Katie Arnold for a welcoming, hands-on workshop designed to help artists find clear, authentic language for talking about their work.
Together, we’ll look at examples of artist statements and explore what makes them effective, approachable, and connected to the artwork. Through interactive activities, conversation, and guided writing prompts, participants will identify the ideas, questions, materials, and processes that shape their own work and begin developing language for an artist statement.
Whether you’re writing your first statement or looking to refresh an existing one, you’ll leave with practical strategies, new language to work with, and greater confidence in articulating your artistic practice.
Space is limited! Please register in advance.

More about Katie Arnold:
Katie Arnold is an artist and educator at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts and the founder of Merritt House, an artist residency and creative community in Easton, Pennsylvania.
In her studio practice, Katie uses pattern, repetition, layering, and play to explore memory, connection, and the often unseen relationships between people, objects, and experiences. Her work moves between the personal and the universal, using her own stories as a way to consider how our individual lives are connected to something larger.
Katie is deeply invested in creative community and in the exchange that happens when artists learn alongside one another. She especially values the energy and inspiration she finds through her colleagues, students, and fellow artists.
