Art as Activism: Mexican Artists in the LUAG Collection

Moravian Academy  - 4th Grade - English and Spanish Immersion

Fourth Graders from the English and Spanish Immersion programs at Moravian Academy took part in a virtual learning experience that explored a selection of famous Mexican artists in the LUAG Collection. After practicing some close-looking exercises with works by Diego Rivera and photographs of Frida Kahlo and exploring how these artists incorporated identity, culture and social justice issues into their work, students were encouraged to explore their own identity through the work of contemporary artist Tatiana Parcero by creating their own hand cartography drawings.
