Robin Cranage Lapoint '91, '96G

Robin Cranage Lapoint is the President and Co-owner of Geary Brewing Co. and the Executive Vice President of The Strainrite Companies. Geary Brewing is New England’s first craft brewery in the post prohibition era and holds federal brewing license #13. The Strainrite Companies, a 3rd generation family business, manufactures specialty liquid filtration systems and serves customers throughout the world.

After graduating in ’91 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Careers and International Relations, Robin worked in consulting services for a privately held firm specializing in not for profit asset management, a consulting boutique focused on transferring privately held stock to future generations, and the Lehigh University SBDC while earning her Master’s in Business Administration.

After completing her MBA, Robin and her husband Alan Lapoint ’91 moved to Maine to start their family and run their family’s manufacturing company.  Their time in Maine has been dedicated to raising their children, supporting their community, and committing to the preservation and development of manufacturing both nationally and statewide.  In March 2017, they purchased DL Geary Brewing Co. to steward and preserve this legendary craft brewery responsible for starting the east coast craft movement when it poured its flagship beer, Geary’s Pale Ale in 1986.  The brewery has since developed an extensive well known line of English style beers brewed in open fermentation. Today, the revitalization of Geary Brewing brings a new complementing line of true to style beers brewed in closed fermentation.

The arts and art history have always been a personal passion for Robin.  She enjoyed the arts throughout her academic studies, during national and international travels, and continues to enjoy and support the arts in her local community.  She has served on several boards including YMCA Camp Huckins, Boys to Men, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Portland, and supports the Lehigh Alumni Association by holding the Annual Maine Freshman Sendoff.   Robin lives in Freeport, Maine with her husband Alan and their 3 children; Matthew, Nathaniel and Christina.
