Director's Message

Fall 2019

Art helps us see the world--and ourselves--differently.

Paintings, sculpture, photographs, drawings--works of art in all forms are the embodiment of an artist’s vision, idea, and point of view.  Art is the manifestation of problem-solving, whether it be a creative response to a purely aesthetic challenge, or a more pragmatic one. By investigating great works of art, we can better understand one another. We see how individuals and cultures from diverse time periods have innovated and overcome challenges, and we also can better understand their values, beliefs, and perspectives.

Come explore the Lehigh University Art Galleries, and see for yourself!  With over 16,000 works of art, six galleries on three campuses, an extensive outdoor sculpture collection, two art study centers, and ongoing programs and events, there is truly something for everyone at the LUAG.

On behalf of the entire team at the Lehigh University Art Galleries, welcome!
