LUAG’s thought-provoking exhibition, This Land: Reimagining the United States of America on its 250th Anniversary, resists strict definitions of "America" and "Americans" – inviting viewers to explore multiple possibilities of being, living, and understanding. Weaving together maps, metaphor, music, and more, This Land draws from the LUAG collection and beyond, including historic images and artifacts from the C. F. Martin & Co. Archives.

In this unique tour experience, attendees will explore the exhibition’s central themes with the curators themselves – gaining insights into the artists, objects, and stories behind the exhibition and reflecting on the past, present, and future of the United States.

Florencia San Martín is an art historian and Frank Hook Assistant Professor at Lehigh University specializing in contemporary art, the arts of the Americas, photography, and decolonial and memory studies. Her transdisciplinary research explores decolonial time and the possibilities of liberation through art, with a focus on hope, resistance, and disobedience. She is the author of Alfredo Jaar: Decolonial Time and the Aesthetics of the Unfinished (Duke University Press, 2026) and co-editor of The Routledge Companion to Decolonizing Art History (2024), among other publications. Her scholarship has appeared in leading journals and cultural publications in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and has been supported by institutions including the College Art Association, Smithsonian American Art Museum, and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. She has presented her research internationally at institutions including the Free University in Berlin, the Museum of Modern Art in Medellín, and the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing.

Mark Wonsidler is a sculptor, writer, and Curator of Exhibitions and Collections at Lehigh University Art Galleries (LUAG), where he has served since 1999. He is the former Assistant Director and a faculty member at the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Bard College (2001–2021). Wonsidler is the editor of Creativity & Connection: Lehigh University Art Galleries at 100 (Hirmer Publishers / University of Chicago Press, 2026), the first guidebook to the museum’s collection. His work has been exhibited internationally, most notably at the 2017 Venice Biennale. He holds an MFA from Bard College.
