Opening Reception: Impressions of Dissent

April 23, 2026 4:00PM to 6:30PM
LUAG LAB

You're invited to a free LUAG LAB opening reception event on Thursday, April 23!

Located in LUAG's Main Galleries, the LUAG LAB Impressions of Dissent exhibition printmaking installation explores political activism and the persistent pressures of contemporary American life, even when one tries to hide away. This series of prints reflect on how political tensions, media saturation, and social conflict continue to shape the everyday experience.  Created by Aisling Kernan '26, the works examine the uneasy space between engagement and avoidance: the desire to disconnect from the constant stream of political information, and the realization that the realities of modern America inevitably seep into your personal life. Each print captures a different moment within that tension, revealing how activism, fatigue, frustration, and reflection can coexist. Together, these prints invite viewers to consider how political forces permeate even the most private spaces, suggesting that in today’s climate, it is nearly impossible to fully escape the world outside.

The LUAG LAB: An Interdisciplinary Project Space is a student exhibition gallery. With mentorship from LUAG staff and faculty, presenting students are guided through the experience—from exhibition design to budgeting, installation, promotion, programming, and more. A public reception accompanies each exhibition, giving students the opportunity to discuss their work and respond to questions in a public-facing format.
