Student-Led Tour: On Personal Faith: An Exploration of Himalayan Buddhist Sculpture

Join LUAG Student Museum Eduactor Sam GInn in exploring Western conceptions of sculpture often evoke images of grand statues commemorating historical events, martial prowess, and figures of religious significance displayed in public areas to be experienced in a communal manner, a notion that can be traced back to Antiquity. The smaller physical scale of Himalayan religious sculpture suggests a personalization of faith and identity in the quest for salvation. Sam Ginn is a third year history and international relations double major and a studio architecture minor. He is a member of the Eckardt Scholars Program, the Martindale Student Associate Honors Program 2023-2024 cohort, and is an intern for the LU/UN Office. He focuses his studies on conflict and hopes to pursue a career in private security and analysis. Sam enjoys weightlifting, playing rugby, reading, and spending time outdoors in his free time.
