Bodies of Knowledge | Call for Community Artwork Submissions

We are excited to announce a community call for artwork submissions for our upcoming exhibition titled Bodies of Knowledge.

We are seeking artwork submissions that explore the following themes related to body knowledge and invite artists to reflect on the reciprocal relationship between our bodies and ourselves. How do we take care of our bodies, and how do our bodies take care of us?

• Movement and Sensation
• Decoration, Ritual, and Costume
• The Social Body
• The Body in Transformation
• Extending the Body

To participate, submit a digital photo of your artwork.  All eligible submissions will be shown (in a digital/reproduced format on LUAG’s website as part of the upcoming Fall 2023 exhibition, “Bodies of Knowledge.”

AND...your work may be considered for reproduction in a public outdoor exhibition along the South Bethlehem Greenway!

Who is eligible?
Everyone!  Artists and non-artists, students and adults of all ages and abilities are encouraged to submit their work.  No professional experience is required.  Parent/guardian permission is required for those under 18 years old.  Help us spread the word!  Share this opportunity with anyone who might be interested in sharing their creative work!

What kinds of artwork?
All kinds!  Paintings, sketches, mixed media, diagrams, doodles, designs, illustrations, data visualizations, preparatory and finished works, realistic to abstract, black and white or color--in all media--are welcome. *Please note that only still images can be included for reproduction on the South Bethlehem Greenway.

Why should I submit?
All artwork will be featured (in a digital/reproduced format) in the upcoming exhibition, “Bodies of Knowledge.”  In addition, selected works may be chosen to be reproduced in an outdoor exhibition along the South Bethlehem Greenway.

Everyone who submits their drawings will be entered to win free LUAG swag, such as a LUAG tote bag, sketchbook and sketching supplies, past exhibition catalogs, and other fantastic giveaways!  All are invited to attend the opening reception of the exhibition, as well as free public programs and workshops this fall.

Artwork Submission Requirements:
File Requirements
Format: .jpg
Size:  high resolution, 8-10MB is best
Resolution: 300 dpi
Even lighting and sharply focused images are best.  All works submitted must be original works of art (no reproductions of copyrighted or other material will be accepted).
LUAG will exercise discretion with regard to community standards in the public display of works of art.

When is the deadline?
Submit your digital file using our online form (insert link) no later than Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 5 pm ET.
