October 6, 2023 12:00PM
LUAG Lower Gallery

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, LUAG Student Museum Educator, Cassidy Rubio '24, is hosting a guided tour of works created by members of the Latin American diaspora from LUAG’s Permanent Collection. These include works by former LUAG Director, Ricardo Viera. Viera worked at Lehigh University for 44 years and transformed the gallery into a visual laboratory and teaching collection, as well as a nationally recognized collection of Latino and Latin American works on paper, photography and video, growing the total collection to over 14,000 objects. This tour covers themes of community, culture, and how history informs the present day.

Cassidy Rubio '24 is a senior English major with minors in Mass Communications & Latin American Studies. She is interested in exploring the way in which cultural and societal influences impact the creation of art and the work itself. In her free time, Cassidy enjoys reading and creating art.
