Call for BASD K-12 Student Artwork | South Bethlehem Greenway
August 2026 through June 2027

What’s your wish for America’s future?

As the United States turns 250, we invite PK-12 students from the Bethlehem Area School District to share their wishes for our community and the future of America.

  • Show the future America you want to live in—what would you change, protect, or create?
  • Share what matters most to you—what do you care about? Express it through images, materials, and choices.
  • Share your story—what are the experiences, traits, cultures, and people that shape who you are?

Create Your Wish
Use any style or materials to clearly express what you want others to feel or understand.

Selected student artwork will be reproduced and displayed along the South Bethlehem Greenway from August 2026 to June 2027 as part of This Land: Reimagining The United States of America on its 250th Anniversary, on view at the Lehigh University Art Galleries (LUAG). A selection of artworks will also be available on the LUAG’s website.

How to Participate
Submissions may include images of 2-D and 3-D artwork (drawing, painting, collage, photography, digital, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, etc). Artwork completed before this call is eligible for submission, provided it fits the theme.

Your work can be realistic, abstract, imaginative, or symbolic. There is no single “right” way to respond—what matters most is your voice and perspective.

Submission Guidelines

  • Digital Submission Only: All artwork and writing must be submitted digitally. Physical artwork should be photographed or scanned before submission.
  • Submission: Only one submission per student is permitted.
  • Permission: Artists age 18 or younger must have a parent or legal guardian complete the required permission section.
  • Public Display: Selected works will be reproduced at a large scale (4 × 8 feet) and displayed on billboards along the South Bethlehem Greenway as part of a public art installation. Additional works may be selected for display on the Lehigh University Art Galleries website.
  • Image Quality: Digital files should be clear, high-resolution images (.jpg or .tiff) at the largest image file available (minimum 300 dpi or greater, at the full size of the original). To ensure quality reproduction at a large scale, please send the largest file possible.
  • Content Considerations: Submissions should be appropriate for public viewing by all ages and reflect care and respect for diverse communities and perspectives.
  • Student Information: Each submission should include the student’s first name, grade level, and school. (No last names will be displayed publicly.)
  • Permissions: Submission of artwork indicates permission from a parent or legal guardian for the student’s work to be reproduced and displayed in public spaces and in related project materials.

Apply and submit your artwork here.

Submission Deadline: May 10

Submissions will be selected by PK-12 BASD Art Teachers in collaboration with LUAG Team Members. Artists will be notified by May 26.
