Connect & Create: Mapping Our Stories with Christa Neu

Inspired by the maps, stories, and connections explored in LUAG’s exhibition This Land, join artist Christa Neu for a hands-on collage workshop exploring the places, people, memories, and ideas that shape who we are.
Using maps, photographs, found images, text, and mixed media, participants will create a mind map collage that brings personal connections and experiences together in a visual form. Your map might trace a journey, explore a meaningful place, connect memories, or follow ideas and images that inspire you.
As we explore works in the exhibition, we’ll consider how artists use maps and visual fragments to tell stories and explore relationships between people and place. Participants will then experiment with layering, cutting, arranging, and connecting images to create a map that is uniquely their own.
No prior art experience is necessary. Bring personal photographs or maps if you’d like, or use the materials provided.

Christa Neu, is a photographer and adjunct professor at Lehigh University, exploring the art of visual storytelling since first picking up a 110 camera in fourth grade. In late 2019, she expanded her creative practice to include art journaling, collage, and block printing. These hands-on, tactile processes provide a meditative break from screens and digital imagery, helping her return to photography with renewed energy and perspective.
