Creatives in Community: Understanding the Foundations of Well-Being

October 21, 2024 10:00AM to 1:00PM
Lehigh University Art Galleries, Lower Gallery

In this collaborative workshop, participants will reconnect with the familiar yet often elusive concept of well-being. Though fundamental, well-being can sometimes feel out of reach. Simple solutions for nurturing it are easy to overlook or take for granted. Through guided discussions, outdoor time, and creative connections, participants will leave with greater awareness, a stronger sense of connection and belonging, reduced stress, and practical steps to recreate these results anytime, anywhere. This workshop is intentionally designed to serve individuals in the creative community and is free and open to all.

Join us on October 21! Lunch will be provided.
Register in advance here.

Khalid Taylor (he/they) is a Community Facilitator at Reset Outdoors in addition to being a documentary songwriter, teaching artist and storytelling facilitator. He received a B.A. in Music and Cognition from Oberlin College, and is currently a masters student in the Narrative Medicine program at Columbia University. Khalid’s work centers on the healing potential woven into the stories people tend to hold inside— extending an invitation to return to the body, mind, heart, and soul through music, laughter, and introspection. Khalid created his private practice, SOL Songs, to help others transform personal narratives into songs using the collaborative documentary songwriting method, with a sensitivity towards queer and trans people of color. Khalid’s podcast, Songs Through Their Eyes, is an auditory anthology of interviews and song analyses with individuals who have used the “doc song” method to create songs from their lived experiences.

Connor Moriarty (he/him) is the Founder / Director of Reset Outdoors, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania and also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach. While his work is grounded in validated theories and techniques, Connor is also creative, continuously developing his capacity for meeting client needs with innovative strategies. Connor feels most at peace in the great outdoors. He is most drawn to water and trees, particularly places where there are both! Connor is a certified ACA level 1 kayak and stand up paddle board instructor. Since integrating CliftonStrengths into his work, Connor’s approach has become even more unique and effective. With a focus on behavioral and organizational sustainability, the Reset Outdoors Ascent program is the first strengths-and-nature based team conditioning program in the United States.
